I think the trail race finally caught up to me. My hammy's felt tight this morning and my heels and arch are both hurting on each foot. Maybe it was a bad idea to Sunday sin yesterday. I should have just taken things easy.

This morning I went to the gym at 4:40 and worked on the eliptical for 45 minutes then lifted a tiny bit and worked my core. Then I left and came home to run outside. I wanted to run longer but I just didn't have time. Ran 6.32    avg pace 7:43 sllloooooow. Will I pull of a great time at the Provo river 1/2 on Saturday? I am doubting it with this muscle tightness and lack of higher mileage. Will I try? You betcha.

*pm update ran 2.68 miles up Canyon road in head wind. It was hard. I gave up at 1.25 miles and turned around and ran back down the hill. So tired now. Sleepy sleepy.

Running on little sleep today. Went to sleep at midnight, woke up at 4:30. Today I will most definitely need a nap.

Worked on the eliptical for an hour and a half. Lifted weights as quick as I could, worked core as quick as I could. Bought a protein bar and a drink at the pro shop. Outa there.

Knee's are sore. Why is this? I never have problems with my knees. It's 7:20 and I've already taken 800 mg ibuprofen, worked out, stretched and showered. Nice.

Race: Provo River Trail half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:29:00, Place overall: 38, Place in age division: 5

I don't have all the final age division results but I feel really good about what I did today. This is going to be the funniest race report ever. So first off, this race is very beautiful and scenic but very disorganized. I got to the buses at 4:35 with Julie and her cute friend Robyn. We were on the first bus that went up. So, the bus driver looks like a total hessian. He's rocking out while driving the bus. He takes us up to far up South fork. He get's to a closed off point and we end up having to do a 20 point reverse to turn the bus around.  Everybody was like what the 'eff' is going on? Ha! We had to sit near bull horn man (a man that talks way to loud) and he pretty much narrated everything for us.  I am a very silly and sarcastic girl so I was making everyone around us laugh. I had commentary out the yang about everything that was going wrong. Finally we get there and we jump off the bus and wave bu-bye to the hessian driver. Immediately we have to pee. So we ducked into the bushes and had a good laugh. Out we came and we stretched a bit and talked and laughed. Then a bus came hauling out of nowhere and runs over one of the barriers. haha! It was like they hired some semi mentally challenged  bus drivers!

We walk around a bit and then we are told to go down to the road- that the race start would be there. So we do, and of course, disorganization! There is no race start and people are headed clear down the road looking for something that isn't even set up.ha ha!  At one point we see Sasha Pachev (founder of the FRB) he's gloriously running up and down the road looking for the start line. He goes down the road, comes back up and says "its way back up this way, move back up". Some guy off to the side says about Sasha "that guy is prancing up and down the road like a kid on Christmas" hahahaha! Sorry Sasha- we know you rocked the race but you were a bit funny in the beginning! Then there was another bus mishap.....again! This time, a HUGE white bus tried to run Julie, Robyn and I over. It backed us into the barbed fence and it came within inches of our feet! I being the little brat I am, picked up my foot and gave the bus a good kick on the panels on it's way out. I don't know why, but it was funny. Us girls laughed so hard.

I was fixing my gear and I saw MichelleL and we chatted. After this us girls started up a hammer gel, I had a rough time. I want to throw up so bad taking this stuff lately.

The chip carpet 'team' finally show up and it's race time! Since Julie and Robyn are very short (5'3 5'4) we were discussing height. I turn to them and out from my mouth comes "you guys are short".  But what I didn't realize at that moment was that there were two, very short, bald men in front of me that were like 5'5 5'4.  They both turned around and stared at me like I had insulted them. I wasn't even talking to them. A very tall red headed and bearded man behind me busted out laughing which caused me to start laughing, which caused some ripple laughter from many others. ha ha! nothing like a good laugh before the race. And it was cold people! We grew leg hair before the race even started.

Race starts and away I flew! I'm not going to drag this out to much. Splits: 6:17 6:13 6:18 6:04 6:39 6:26 7:11 7:13 6:38 6:48 7:05 7:13 7:18 1:02   total time 1:29:04 according to my Garmin.

The hill at mile 6.50 was a killer. I need to work on hills because I got picked off a couple times on it. Taking mental note now.....work on hills Lily.

I had very little drink and no hammer gel after the race started. So I did this race mostly without any aid. I never thought I could do that. I am so glad I have stepped out of my shell the last year and done tons of speed work. It is paying off and I really feel that the best is still yet to come. Sometimes I kind of  feel like the world is at my doorstep. I did hit a bit of a wall around mile 11 and 12. I had some leg cramps that were kind of rough, but I just keep pushing and the goal was not to fall below a 7:15 which I pretty much stuck too.

Maybe this is cheesy, but when I got down to the finish line I teared up because I exceeded my goal by 6 minutes. I wanted to do a 1:35 or under and I did. I was so happy. I did cry, and I know, I'm a baby. After wards I got to talk to Walter who is an FRB'er and he is so cool. He is a super star! He runs so well. He was so nice and sweet. He said I was pushing him and a couple other men in the first half of the race.  :) (big smile, cuz that's how this girl rolls!)

So, no complaints.....  now about PRing a 5k next Saturday? I know I can do it. I need to do this!

1 hr 30 min on the eliptical then worked core. I had nausea all weekend after the race. I threw up a few times. Anybody else ever get this? I had nausea after the trail race last weekend as well. And no, I am not pregnant. Absolutely not. Calves and quads are very sore. I am having trouble getting around. But nothing quite like the day I went up Lake Mountain with 2 of my fav people. Yeah, my legs aren't quite at that point.....close though.

I just sat down to log my miles and glanced out my window. I saw my two neighbors Wes (Merri's husband) and Larry running. Wes was totally kicking Larry's trash. :P

I went to the gym this morning and I thought I might be able to run a bit. My legs are not recovered. I could only muster out 1 1/2 miles. I was running at a higher speed and so I know that didn't help my cause. But boy it was a shocker. My legs are still sore and they just could not move.

So, I resorted to the eliptical for an hour and 5 minutes. Fun stuff. The end.

My to do list before August is over:

  • Run another 1/2 marathon race
  • 2 more trail runs at least. I love doing this!
  • Climb a peak
  • hike up to the Spanish Fork cross
  • rock climb (scary)
  • Run a 20 miler in prep for TOU
  • a week of 10's  yeehhhawwww 10 miles everyday for 7 days.

I didn't run this morning so I can save my legs for the 5k race I am running tomorrow. I was thinking about it- this will be my fourth race in a row the last month. Su-weet! I have had several people ask me this week if I am a machine or something. LOL I thought about it-I have been getting very little sleep, running races, exercising every single day, doing tons with my kids. Yeah.... so maybe I am a machine of sorts :)

Today I worked on the elipitcal with Julie for an hour and 10 minutes. Julie was reading this super duper awesome book called 'stories boys like'. The cover looked rather 70's for sure. Julie was reeeeally loving it. ha!!!

I have plans to kick it into high gear the next two weeks. I am going to start running tons of distance. Hopefully a 15-18 miler next week with Allie. I will run long distances twice per week until the week before the marathon. So if anybody wants to join me, feel free to come. I have run alone so much this year I am a little lonely at this point. I can manipulate my schedule to do whatever. Plus I have plans to do 2 trail runs before this month is up. I also want to lose 5-7 more lbs. So I can be even lighter for the marathon. Everybody says I am crazy and my husband asks me if I have blown away in the wind each day after work. Very funny peeps. You watch, I'll lose a few more and I will be happy even if everybody else things I'm a nut. Happy Friday ya'll .

I met Allie and her friend James (fiddy) this morning for the Minuteman 5k at the Rio Tinto Stadium. Automatically I knew this was going to be a very competitive race. There was tons of local elites walking around. Amber Andrews. Maryanne S.  Allie!  lot's of fast men I recognized. I got nervous right away.

Allie is super cool! I loved meeting her and running with her today. The race start was frightening. The gun they fired was SO LOUD! Oh my, everyone within my vision including me shuddered as it was fired. And we were off! I know I am not the fastest person by any means, however I ran faster today, especially if you take into account the 2 killer hills we had to run on this course.  5k's are pukealicious- and this one especially. Allie was about 50 seconds in front of me. I tried to at least see her the whole way.

I think my best is still yet to come. Looking forward to a long run with Allie next Saturday. I'ts prep for TOU. And also looking forward to the results of the Hobble Creek 1/2 where Lindsey Dunkley, Nan Kennard and Maryanne S.  are going head to head, yeah!  :)  Allie want to hit up the end of the race so we can watch the finishers? Wait, would we have time? haha who knows.

3 mile cool down with Allie and Fiddy.

3.50 miles when I got home on the river trail. Total of 9.50 for today.

I am tired. I was up late watching the roast of David Hasselhoff. So  so funny!

6 miles on the tm at the gym. Lifted weights, worked core. Julie ran on the tm for a bit and felt sick and went home. Told me to text her when I came home to run the trail. So I left at 6:25 and came home. Texted her and she met me at the corner. We ran up the river trail about 2  1/4 miles before Julie started feeling sick again. She decided to go home and I continued around the trail one more time. 7 miles on the trail total. 13 mile day. Yeehhaaaww

Dear Man with the cleft pallet and ADHD collie on the trail,

Then next time your dog jumps on the side of my leg and scratches me, you betcha, I'm gonna pepper spray him. I've been dealing with it all summer.

Took a running break today. The eliptical was my friend today for an hour and 10 min. I lifted weights today for a good little while.  Tomorrow is going to be a good longer run with Allie and Michelle and can't wait to see the finishers at the Hobble Creek 1/2.

This morning I met Allie at Mapleton Jr. High. It was so windy and chilly.

We took off up towards the canyon and found ourselves running on the Hobble Creek half course. We were clipping along-chit chatting. The headwind was nasty! But once we passed the house with the fake dog staring out the door (wha....? who does that?) we turned and had the wind at our backs for awhile. The run was nice. Good hills and long roads! Good conversation! Great paces. We did a little over 11 miles before we stopped to watch the finish of the hobble creek half. That was a good show. We got to see/cheer Lindsey D. and Nan K. to the finish line. It was so close and they both are so amazing. It gave me chills and they both PR'd.  Way to go girls!

After Nan got some fuel, we headed back out with her for another 5 miles back up the Hobble course. We got so many funny comments from people. The best comment was a man we passed running the race, who noticed Nan's race bib and said: 'one of the two of us is going the wrong way' (ha).  It was a good 5 miler with awesome splits for how far we were into our distance. It felt great and Nan is so friendly and fun. Really glad I got to meet her.

We came back and watched the awards. Then took off for another Mile back to the cars. Good training run today. Awesome company- and now I am feeling better about TOU. Next week is a 20 miler for me.....hmmmmm.

Worked out @golds on the eliptical for 45 min. Worked my core before I had to take off- but not as well as I would have liked. Came home and ran the river trail loop 2 times for a total of 7 miles. I felt good running today and my pace felt good. I didn't feel tired at all. Yesterday there was a huge wind and rainstorm. Looks like it did some tree damage on the trail. There was a tree snapped in half and blocking the entrance to the river trail.I had to climb over it twice.

Today, I ran 21 miles  (or 6 times around the river trail loop) in 2 hrs and 45 minutes on the dot. I didn't really push any speed, I just kept it around 7:50 pace. I stopped 2 times, at miles 10 1/2 for some water, grapes and cyto-max. Then again at 13 miles to kiss my boys off to the first day at school and another drink. I know my fitness level is there. I was not winded or overly tired once during the run. It was good for me to do this. My confidence level is up for the Top of Utah. Now I really know what kind of guts I am made of. I think I am on track for at least a 3 hr 25 minute marathon. But I always surprise myself and underestimate my ability.

No running today, just the elipitcal for an hour and 38 minutes. My legs feel okay from yesterdays looong run. But to be frank, it feels like my pelvic floor has been ripped apart  ;)

I lifted a tiny bit after and worked my core.

This morning I got to the gym at 4:25 waited at the door for it to be unlocked so I could get on a treadmill that this snotty chic likes to use. Yeah, I guess I'm a jerk, because I did it on purpose :P  She's a brat and thinks she so fast and makes those around her feel inferior so I wanted to 'one up' her today. I only did a 1/2 mile on it (because I had no real intention of running indoors today). As soon as I saw Kira I jumped off and worked on the elipitical for 56 minutes. Then I worked my core. Came home and ran the river trail loop twice=7 miles in 53:55. Running in the pitch black on the river trail is sketchy people!

So I went to the gym and did the elipitcal for 45 minutes then I ran 4 miles on the tm (speed work) with Julie. Speed work can be brutal that's for sure. Julie and I had a nice little talk. I will get some more miles in this evening outside.

Logan Utah- I am not a fan. You have no available rooms for TOU. Now I am not sure I am even going to run it. This is so lame
