Yesterday afternoon I got sick and puked 3 times. It thought today might be a no go. I woke up feeling a little sick too.

Julie and I headed over to Marion's house this morning at 6:15 for the race. Marion is so fun! I love the party she can put on! The packet pick-up was at the Senior citizens center and it was a little chaotic. We got our packets and Julie and I had to pee. There is a line, of course. We fueled up and threw our bibs on. It seems like we were just in the nick of time to the start line. We were at the front with Jen Hughes, Melanie Burnham and Michelle Lowry. So fun! Right before the gun was fired my watch said it was locked and I couldn't unlock it. I was freaking out. Somehow Julie and I were able to unlock only moments before the gunfire. I could've run without it, but it's always nice to refer to.

mile 1) 6:20 Were off and close to the front. Yehhaaaw feeling good and flying! A TRAIN IS CROSSING UP AHEAD AND THE GUARDS ARE DOWN? What???? Yeah you read it right, all of us peeps in the front thought we were going to have to stop for the train. What in the??!!?? Well wouldn't you know it, the guards lifted just in time for us front pack people to pass through. A Christmas friggin day miracle. Ummm, some man or boy up at the very front of the pack must have been puking, because during this mile the pack of four women I was running in saw and smelled puke for awhile. SICK! We are running so hard and I look over at Jen Hughes and say: "do you smell puke?".  She screams "yes and it smells like hell !!" ha ha Don't ya love racing?

Mile 2)  6:23 still pumping and there are 4 of us girls in a pack running. Totally clammering back and forth between us, I take the lead of the 4, then one of the others take the lead, it rotated between all 4 of us for about 3 miles. It was good. It was steady pushing doing that.

Mile 3) 6:20 Still some clammering going on with us 4 girls. This mile felt awesome for some reason.

mile 4)  6:30 dough! Don't run and grab a drink and then try to drink it. I never drink during 10k's!! Why did I do it today?!!?!?  I lost some ground people!

Mile 5) 6:52, See!!! the drink threw me off. I should've just kept running. Damn it. I am able to catch back up the the gals though.

Mile 6) 6:51 tummy is hurting, feeling pukalicious. I know I don't have much to go!

Mile .2) I don't know my split. I never turned my watch off and I am to lazy to go into the program to check. This race was a little hard (gradual inclines) but it was fun.

I came in 3rd overall female and 2nd in my age group. Super happy with it and a new 10k PR :)

Breakfast at Marion's after was so fun. Her delicious homemade buttermilk syrup is TO DIE FOR.  It was so fun hanging out with Julie (my besty). So great hanging out with MichelleL, RAD & her family, Kelli and her cute daughter, KellieS & TylerS and there adorable boys.

After the race I did a 3 mile cool down with MichelleL. Then came home and ran the river trail loop twice. 7 miles.

Today was a 16 mile day altogether.  Onion days results here

Want to run a race this coming Sat? This one runs right near our river trail and right past my house actually. I think I'm doing it. Why not help St. Jude anyway? http://www.windowworldutah.com/race/

This race report sounds so familiar. Did you run this last year or something?

Nice job, Lily! You looked so strong the entire time, just steadily getting farther and farther away from me! You could have at least slowed down so I would have known where to turn!!!! Actually, never mind, you run in the front and deal with the puke!!!

I tell ya, if those train rails had not popped up, I would have been so mad! All I could think of is, "What will I do?? I will catch up with all of these people who are so clearly running better and faster than me and that is just not fair!" I seriously would have started a line and made every get back in their rightful positions. Glad that did not have to happen, I fear some people might not have listened to me.

Way to go on the extra miles, I shoulda come with you. I had NO ENERGY for it today. You are going to do a great job at TOU. Hitting 3:30 will be a piece of cake, that is a darn modest goal for someone with your speed.

From RAD on Mon, Sep 06, 2010 at 20:59:05 from 67.172.229.125

Lily, you had an AMAZING race! I honestly was a bit worried, because we didn't see you at the start. I thought maybe you'd changed to the 5K - or that you were lined up at the 5K start and didn't hear to line up in the back with the 10Kers. So, I was impressed when I saw you looking so fresh as I came dragging in :) I'm with Kelli about TOU, 3:30 will be easy cheesy for you!

Kelli, you made me laugh SO hard! I was thinking the same thing so far behind you guys (about lining back up again). I said to one guy: "Race to the train?" he chuckled. When I saw the end of the train (I could see that from my vantage point WAY back up on the hill) I was SO relieved that it looked like no one even had to slow to miss it.

It was touch and go, but I am pretty sure that Michelle would have just used her super human powers and run right through the train. I do not think she had to slow down at all, but I did not ask. It did not look like they did from my vantage point, anyway.

Way to go lily! Nice PR! and 3rd is awesome! Natalie Perkins in the ward is helping out w/ that race on Saturday. I think her dad owns window world.

Woohoooo! Congrats on your race and PR. You're so fast and it is really fun to see your results.

Way to dodge the puke. Smelling puke usually makes me puke. GAG! That made me laugh though.

Oh and nice miles today. You are going to kick some behinds at TOU. I'm excited for you.

Lily you ran awesome! I didn't realize it was you at the start of the race. It was nice to finally meet you! I will agree you will easily get your 3:30.

From Lily on Tue, Sep 07, 2010 at 21:05:51 from 67.199.181.73

I appreciate all the comments. I think every single one of you is an awesome runner!

Melanie I was wondering if you were an FRB'er! Wohooo! I am going to have to check on you now. You were on fire!

I know that sound dumb banditing the race but honesty we just needed a good workout for part of our run and we don't need anymore medals or t-shirts. We don't eat any of their food. Hopefully I'm not to bad. We do sign up for most of our races.
