I finally ran a sub 20 5k this morning! I love the run13 organization and their ability to truly make a race fun. This was so fun and it was for a good cause. The money raised goes to the racing cane foundation. Shoes for the the children in the Dominican Republic. There were 2 guys there from the Dominican representing the country. There was also a 10k and a childrens 1 mile.

I felt great during the race and somehow I just knew that I would hit the sub 20. Here's the catch, every run13 race I have run has ALWAYS been a distance overage. The Provo city marathon 5k was .25 over back in May. Ugh! This race was no exception. So I actually clocked at 20:28. I talked to the directors after wards and they said they always mark there distances about .10 over. So when I got home, my husband and I went into the Garmin program to see where I hit 3.1.... 19:45! Right on the money! And speaking of Money, I won!  I never care about winning, but I do always have a goal time with each race I run.

So here's to SGM, and maybe another 5k before Oct. 1st. You can't beat the fitness you get from a fast 5k. Happy Saturday and I can't wait to hear how Allie did. She was on my mind all morning!

1.5 mile cool down. 5.3 miles out on the river trail this afternoon.

Congrats, a great time! I almost tried to run this one since we were staying in Orem very close the start, but Kami's ride was in Payson and there was no way to make it back up there in time.

Yayyy great job Lily! You are going to rock it at StG!!!

I've run 2 Run13 races and definitely thought they were both a little bit long, so thanks for confirming that for me!

From josse on Mon, Sep 19, 2011 at 18:42:00 from 166.250.1.206

Congrats on the race and win. it is buggy to me to measure a race long. if you are running a 5k make it a 5k geez.

From Lily on Mon, Sep 19, 2011 at 18:46:57 from 67.199.178.210

Josse it does drive me crazy. This organization marks all over their courses over. All of them.

From Bonnie on Mon, Sep 19, 2011 at 18:59:31 from 128.196.228.134

Garmins are not precise enough to be used for course certification. If a course meets USATF guidelines (http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/certification/manual/) then it is pretty darn close to the distance ... Paul has talked about this before on the discussion board(http://fastrunningblog.com/forum/index.php/topic,1353.0.html) ...

This does in no way diminish your awesome race Lily!!
