I really don't have a lot to say in this time because yesterday I decided to stop running for about 15 days to get my calf completely healed. I am planning to (for real this time) make a Dr appt this next week. I don't want to see the regular old family MD, I feel like they don't know what's going on with sports injuries. Any suggestions from bloggers on what kind of Dr. I should see is so appreciated.

I don't feel like it's a severe long term injury. It doesn't feel that horrible, but just enough to realize that I need time off for a small chunk of time. I can do 2 weeks right? -though I already had a mini melt down this morning on my way to elliptical hell for an hour. I saw a man running as the sun was just starting to rise. It was so beautiful out and my heart sunk :(

I know in my heart my calf will get better these next 2 weeks. Don't ask why, but I just know it. And when it does, I will be a good girl and ease into it. And after doing that for awhile I will come back stronger than ever before. Mark my words....

I don't have much to say other then...I love you LIly. You're the best friend I've ever had. I know that 2 weeks can seem like a eternity, but eventually it will come. I have full confidence that you will heal, and I have full faith in your running ability. You've had MUCH worse injuries and have rose above them. You will with this too. Find a mantra and say it to yourself. This is a time to not only give your body rest from running, it can be a time to amp up the good things in your life that make you YOU! Hang in there little lady.

Certainly smart to go to someone who knows something about sports medicine, I'm sure you will tons of feedback here.

Two weeks off will help too even though it's a different pain :( I hope it heals quick and the time off gets you back like you said.

i would have had like 4 mini meltdowns and 2 major meltdowns by now if i was you, so kudos for hanging in there and keeping the spirits up as best you can. It totally stinks, but just remember that character is often best defined by how you respond to adversity - you can do this, and if you believe you will come back stronger, than you will.

I would just google search for docs in your area that have some experience in sports medicine. Or maybe even a podiatrist?

I saw Dr. Brent Rich at Utah Valley Sports Medicine for my injury. I would highly recommend him, he is a runner, he gets it. Best of luck! Stay positive! I was out for 12 weeks with a pubic symphis stress fracture. It's not easy being injured but it helps to see someone who can pinpoint the problem, help you plan an active recovery, and get you back out there. You can get strong in the meantime. He and his staff were great. He is also on staff for BYU and treats their athletes.

Kira you made me cry! You know how I feel about you!

Jake thanks for your words. They are comforting. I will look up a Sports med Dr.

Bandon thanks for referring me to Dr. I really appreciate that.

I know this calf is going to heal completely soon. I can't put my finger on it but I just know it!

I have also heard great things about Dr. Rich. I am sorry you are going through this Lily but 2 weeks really isn't much in the big scheem of things. You will come back stronger I just know it!

I double the Dr. Brent Rich vote. He is the BYU teams doctor and SUPERB!!!! Plus, I can usually get in super fast. And he is a runner!

You're awesome, Lily. I'm glad you've got a plan and what sounds like a good doctor to go see. And I'm extra glad that you feel like it's going to get better soon!
