This morning....good hell where do I start? It all began at 4:45 with an attempt at running on the tread. Which abruptly ended 60 seconds later because I feel like my right glute and low back are being jarred. I don't know how people deal with an injury but I am really beginning to feel really hopeless and lost.

Speaking of lost....I lost it this morning. After doing 30 minutes on the stair master and an hour on the elliptical I had a breakdown. I was watching my friends and other people running and it was all to much. Yep I cried at the back of the gym. An older friend named Ginnie must have sensed something because she suddenly turned around and came up and asked me how I was. I cried more. She knows me and she knows how hard this has been for me. She has watched me really take off this last year and a half.

I don't know if I can do the blog anymore until I am running again. It's all to much of a muchness for me.

Oh sister, I feel so bad for you. I was just now going to make some comment about not stepping away from the blog, but to be honest, I would probably do the same thing. I really think you should shut it all down for a week or two, completely. You won't lose any real fitness and your body obviously needs it. Get better and get back.

From Lily on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 10:24:37 from 67.199.181.73

I'm nor sure if people believe me when I say that running has almost become a physical attribute of mine. It really is a part of who I am. My heart hurts this past 3 weeks with it's lack. It brings me so much joy.

I'm so sorry Lily.

From Carina on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 10:47:04 from 204.15.86.83

I am so sorry, I think you should do what you need to to get through this. Stay positive, you'll get through this!!!

I've been reading your blog for a while but haven't commented. My heart breaks for you and I just wanted you to know, you're in my thoughts and I wish you the best. Sorry for this difficult time you are going through and I hope you get all better soon.

Lily...just think of the good 'ol days back at wencor...haha. Also, wasn't it saturday you were saying you needed to take a week off....trust me - a week off really helps when you need to recoop. Peace.

I'm sorry, Lily. I agree with Jun and Carina - if you have to take a break to do what's best for your body, things will be better on the other side. I'm sorry it's such a sucky thing. But you're still a runner (and still faster than probably almost everyone you see on the treadmills), even if you temporarily can't run, and you won't lose much fitness or get fat over a little break. :)

Wow, this makes me feel bad. So sorry Lily. I know you will be back and have a strong year once you get over this crazy injury. Take care!

From Toby on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 11:59:27 from 66.133.97.196

I totally understand how you feel - I was out for a WHOLE FREAKIN' YEAR! I thought for sure my hubby was going to check me into a psych ward!

For me, I physically need to run. I need it to stay sane and leave all my roles of wife/mother/sister at home and to just be me.

I didn't want to find another sport to help reduce the "physical need" for running. I just wanted to run. I did get a road bike and it is fun, but not the same.

Do whatever the doctor is telling you to do. So that way you can recover and not re-injure yourself and make the recovery process longer.

Cry those tears....I have! Hang in there!

Sorry Lily.... there's nothing worse than a mother trucking, dirty rat bastard, pain in the arse running injury.

Get your rest mister sister.... and come back faster than ever!

Oh Lily, my heart aches for you! It was this time last year I was in the same place as you - a stress fracture and NO end in sight! When running becomes such an intricate part of our identity it SUCKS to have it taken away. You see people running and you want to go kick them in the shins until they appreciate what they CAN do! I hope you don't pull out of the blog for a while, for me it was a strength to know that my running friends were still here and supporting me even through my non-running MONTHS. Hang in there, we all love and support you and wish you a quick recovery!!

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 16:36:54 from 67.2.102.13

Let me know if there is anything I can do.

i am sorry that you are going through this injury right now -- i know how extremely hard this is for you. i agree that you should take a week or two completely off. i know you will come back from this stronger and faster than ever -- it just needs time to heal. hang in there, and remember that you are truly an awesome, talented, funny, friendly, kind-hearted, *fantastic* person. we're all cheering for you, lily.

From Merri on Tue, Feb 01, 2011 at 23:49:38 from 160.7.252.148

Oh Lily I am so sorry! I know it must be extremely hard for you! I can understand why you would want to stop until you heal. But get better quickly ok? :) We'll miss ya on here!!!

Lily I'm so sorry! I was hurt last year at this time and I had a hard time reading what others were doing. It would make me mad to hear what my friends were running on Sat. I totally know how you feel. Did muscle works help?

From DaleG on Wed, Feb 02, 2011 at 23:11:46 from 152.216.7.5

What a real bummer!!! Here I have been complaining about losing my mojo and I CAN run, but you are seriously down and out. Ok, this just gave me the boost I need to get out there and run tomorrow.

Will you at least check in once in a while an let us know if there is any progess?

From Lily on Wed, Feb 02, 2011 at 23:20:40 from 67.199.181.73

Dale you bet I will. And do take advantage of the fact that you can run. How quickly we forget...

From Merri on Wed, Feb 02, 2011 at 23:39:00 from 184.193.26.20

Come to cardio kick tomorrow and take your frustrations out on the punching bag. :)
