5 miles all together today. 12x200m at the track with Lynsey. I had more stamina this time for whatever reason. I think I double lapped Lynsey during the reps. I faded a bit the last 3 reps. It's good to run with Lynsey a bit again. I am missing Merri though. She said she would join next week. :)

I had a blood draw last week to test my thyroid function. I've been really fatigued for several months. Hopefully this will show whether or not it's a factor. If it isn't, I'll know I am just on over training burnout mode.

I don't think I am going to run hobble creek because my aerobic base just isn't all the way there. I don't want to go into another race feeling like crap and bomb it. It makes me frustrated because I know what I am capable of. I also think I am avoiding a marathon this year. I might cycle down for a couple months then rebuild a heavy aerobic base again over the fall/winter like I did in 2009-2010 which spring boarded me into a fantastic year of PR's. If there is a low thyroid problem, hopefully a medication can help correct that imbalance and I will feel like myself again in a few months too.wo

Hope you can figure out what's making you so tired! Nice 200s today.

Great job with the 200's. I hope the blood work will help find some answers. I had hypothyroidism in my early 20's and it definitely effected my energy levels. It may also be low iron?

From Lily on Wed, Aug 01, 2012 at 09:49:59 from 198.228.217.144

Thanks ladies! Rachelle how did you treat your hypo issue? And what caused it? I should have my iron tested too.

From Rachelle on Wed, Aug 01, 2012 at 09:59:01 from 159.212.71.77

Mine was caused from anorexia. :( Basically my body was shutting down. They put me on synthroid and after I gained weight and got my levels back to normal I was able to go off of it.

You should definitely have your iron toested. I have been taking iron supplements and B complex since Boston and it is crazy how much better I feel.

*tested! I am really struggling with my spelling today.

Getting the iron and thyroid checked will definitely be a good indicator if there are any significant (but totally fixable) problems. I need to get my bloodwork done again soon - I haven't had it run since January.

Beyond that - having the big aerobic base really does help so much. It is what allows you to be consistent and recover quickly.

Nice job on those 200s, too! :-)

Rachelle I am the typo queen since I got my android a couple months ago. No worries!

Jake, ah yes. The big aerobic base is a big key. I really don't have that anymore. I lost a lot of it and I don't have the energy it takes to get it back...in this time anyway.

I am really sad

Hang in there girly, you'll figure it out. Keep us in the loop with what you find out!

I cannot picture you sad (even though I know everyone gets sad).

Hang in there!!

(Mountain biking, maybe?) :)

From Lily on Wed, Aug 01, 2012 at 12:16:09 from 198.228.217.153

Thanks carina. I'll be ok eventually.

Teena, that's funny. My husband thinks the same thing :(. I should mnt bike. I did that a lot in my teens. I've always loved being active!

The great thing about living and racing in Utah is there are a million races to choose from. I know you will be smart with your training! Get better!

Healthy evaluation. I think you're smart Lily, but how many times have I said this? lol. You already know my thoughts! You're one great lady!

I know you are sad, but if its any consolation, I can relate as I had to resign from my own half marathon and I'm not physically/aerobically where I want to be either. I know others of our friends are in the same situation so you are not alone.

We love you!
