1 hr arctrainer, 7 minutes on the hand bike. Had to laugh at the warnings on the hand bike: stop if you feel faint or pain.

Lifted for just 10 minutes today.

Been very depressed the past 2 days over my piriformis syndrome. last night I was up late and I came across this video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFtUgS69rPk

So I did those exercises last night around midnight and got up at 5 am feeling the best I've felt in 9 days. This gives me some hope. I think I'll still call a sports Medicine Doc though.

I know a good one if you don't already have one. You're amazing and tough, you'll be able to run before you know it!

Yeah Carina, send me his name and info will you? Thank you!

that stupid piriformis is such a pain in the butt!!

You'll be back soon, I know not running is hard mentally - but this too shall pass! Keep up the good work and PT exercises!!

Dr. Toronto

4888 South Highland Drive

Salt Lake City, UT 84117

(801) 424-5042

Here is his info. I've seen him a couple of times. I really like him, he's nice and understanding about me wanting to be running asap. A few of my running friends have been to him as well and we've got nothing but good to say about him.

I had heard lots of good about Dr Toronto, so I went to him. Not really impressed, and be ready to wait. It will take a good 3 hours from check in to check out - no joke. Maybe it's that I prefer a diagnostic and preventative approach with a PT rather than his approach of 'just keeping running and take some meds' approach. I felt like he never gave me anything to help PREVENT the injury in the future (ITBS) but just did meds and injections to stop the pain so I could run. I call him the 'candy man' because if all you want is some good prednisone to keep you running and out of pain (which unfortunately it didn't do for me) then he is your man. If you prefer an approach where people will try to give you strengthening and stretching to get rid of the pain and then tips and exercises to keep the pain away permanently, then I would do a PT.

However, it's really just 2 different approaches and it depends on your circumstances and the injury! Because everyone I talk to loves him as well, but that is my 2 cents for what it is worth.

I loved reading your running history! I know you will be back at being the best here shortly. I can just feel it. Keep your chin up! We are more than half way through January. Look out River Trail, here we come!

Sucky sucky sucky! Hope you get your back issues worked out soon.

Julie :) barefoot running in the spring. We made a pack that we'd do it remember? :)

Merri I didn't call a Dr today. However I was leaving the gym and my car was parked right in front of Intermountain Sports therapy. Nice. That's just what I need. I am going to call there tomorrow. Plus, sweet teena from the blog gave me a cell phone number for a guy that has worked on her and she is really certain he can help me.

Scott hope I get this resolved too. I am thinking it's going to take another month. I just want to be better by Spring.

Lily....If any of the doctors you try don't work out, and if you don't mind driving to Ogden, you should see Jason Blackham MD at the Calton-Harrison Sprots Medicine Clinic. Not only is he a good doctor, he can also run a super fast marathon. I think he finished in 2:50 at SGM in '09.
