40 minutes elliptical

Ran 6.80 still running slow, legs are a little sore and fatigued. Felt a little achiness in my calf and shin. Noooo!  The slow runs are a little demoralizing.

I kept spooking myself out on this run. Thinking I see someone when there is nobody there. Being back in the dark sucks! I did see something strange but funny. I guy ran past me smoking a cigarette. LOL

Don't worry about slow runs, that's where you build the base. Most of my running for St. George was done between 8:15 and 8:30 pace and I PR'd. I just didn't want to get injured and I was able to start injury free, that was the most important thing!!

How to do run while smoking? Ewww... I hate running alone, I creep myself out so I swear my HR is way above where it should be!

I agree with Carina. :) You build your base there

Haha! That is funny! A little counter productive...if you ask me, but whatever floats his boat right?

Keep it easy and let things heal up. It can definitely be an ego blow to have to stick to a slower pace. I agree with Carina about building your base. There's no need to strap on those racing pants yet!

Maybe the guy was using the cigarette as his safety light..?

I've just started running some slow miles too, to add base. I think I feel worse after a slow run than a fast run but the next day I always feel great!

I've never seen a person smoke while running in my entire life, and I've seen some strange things. Ha!

Hey, I have a free entry into the Riverton Half Marathon or 5K this weekend if you know of anyone who wants it. You have to sign up in person to use it and the deadline is the 22nd, I think.

From Lily on Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 14:15:21 from 67.199.178.95

Hey Neasts, maybe I will take the 5k entry!

I just run, Jackie, an Kira. Thanks for the reminders to just not worry about my pace. I realize more and more today that my legs are still sore from racing Saturday. I am always slow after a race. Always. :)

From Neasts on Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 15:14:25 from 75.169.58.228

Lily, it's yours. We'll have to figure out how to get it to you before Friday at the latest. There's probably time to mail it if you want to e-mail me, or I can meet you on your way up to register.

The 5K is a loop course with less than 100' of elevation change, so your leg might appreciate that. It doesn't look like there will be 20-30 MPH winds like there were last year. :-) If you do it, we'll raincheck the Saturday run.

Lily, updates on the Riverton thing. I e-mailed the director to make sure that it's not full, and he said:

"The race is not full yet. Those race coupons where good until the general registration deadline. That deadline was March 7th. For this year, we will accept the coupon for the price of the general registration but will need you to pay the difference which is $10."

Sorry, the entry has just been sitting in a drawer for a year and I didn't take it out to look carefully. Let me know if you're still interested.

Neasts I think I'd still like to do it ;) I don't want to dog our run tho. Would you mind?

From Neasts on Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 20:49:40 from 75.169.58.228

No worries! I'm just glad it won't go to waste. We can get out anytime and we will! I think you will love this course.
