I met Allie and her friend James (fiddy) this morning for the Minuteman 5k at the Rio Tinto Stadium. Automatically I knew this was going to be a very competitive race. There was tons of local elites walking around. Amber Andrews. Maryanne S.  Allie!  lot's of fast men I recognized. I got nervous right away.

Allie is super cool! I loved meeting her and running with her today. The race start was frightening. The gun they fired was SO LOUD! Oh my, everyone within my vision including me shuddered as it was fired. And we were off! I know I am not the fastest person by any means, however I ran faster today, especially if you take into account the 2 killer hills we had to run on this course.  5k's are pukealicious- and this one especially. Allie was about 50 seconds in front of me. I tried to at least see her the whole way.

I think my best is still yet to come. Looking forward to a long run with Allie next Saturday. I'ts prep for TOU. And also looking forward to the results of the Hobble Creek 1/2 where Lindsey Dunkley, Nan Kennard and Maryanne S.  are going head to head, yeah!  :)  Allie want to hit up the end of the race so we can watch the finishers? Wait, would we have time? haha who knows.

3 mile cool down with Allie and Fiddy.

3.50 miles when I got home on the river trail. Total of 9.50 for today.

You did great, that was a very tough women's field. You are looking at a hair under 19:50 based on that time, which is very good even before you consider the difficulty of the course.

Excellent run on an excellent day!

CONGRATS Lily!! You are so stinkin' awesome. From fiddy's estimate you would've done a sub 20 with the full distance and so I will give you a good 'ol down home YEE-HAAAWW!! for your awesome new 5K PR.

A little jealous you get to hang with allie next week. I'd come with you, but you both would have to drag me to get me going that fast!! :)

I love Allie too - and I don't even know her! Congratulations on your race - nice fast time, even with the shortcut! lol

From fiddy on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 14:49:46 from 97.117.89.78

Ok Lily, for a flat time that would be about 19:10 and at sea level that'd take you down to around 18:40. That's pretty darn fast.

Oh and if you'd been on a bike your time would have been 11:36

From allie on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 14:55:59 from 161.38.221.168

and rollerblades would have given you 11:35.

lily, great job today! you ran so well. a PR on that course is quite a feat! it was great meeting you today, even though you told me i have small feet.

as for next week - if we start early enough we can definitely catch the end of the race. let me know what you want to do.

Niiiiiiiiiiice!! I knew you would get this one, and peeing at the sev is always fun.

From Kelli on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 16:35:45 from 71.219.102.155

Glad to hear you got to meet so many famous people and have fun!!! Bummer about the wrong turn, but it is making for some great times for sure! Regardless, you did awesome and probably would have beat the 20 minutes anyway.

nice race, sounds like "fun", congrats on the PR!

Hey guys, I planned on watching Hobble Creek too as part of my long run. I need at 20-22 miler. I want to come, can I? Can I?

From Nan on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 18:36:53 from 24.8.144.22

Great race! Sounds like you'd better just accept the fact that you are fast and own it!

I can personally attest to the fact that having Allie along side you for a long run will bring the enjoyability index up at least 78 notches.

Fiddy-What would her time have been on this? http://www.oobject.com/crazy-bicycles/bicycle-playground/345/

Way to break the 6:40 barrier. Nan, Mary Ann, and Lindsay, huh? I think I'll root for Nan on this one because she came to my house. MichelleL in invited but she has to bring cookies.

From MichelleL on Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 23:50:31 from 190.81.112.19

Hmmm, I might have to come up with a great recipe for you Burt. Like extra fiber prune-cracked wheat gems.

From Glory in the long run on Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 16:41:29 from 98.202.33.251

Hey, good race. I don't know if this was you or not but I ran in a dark blue shirt and believe I passed you between mile 1 and 2, you said "Good job" and I didn't respond, so I want to say thanks, and it looks like you didn't lose too much speed, I think you finished within 15 seconds of me. I'm not able to post as much as I want, so thanks and keep it up!

From Lily on Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 17:33:02 from 67.199.181.73
