The race here in Spanish Fork is quite a doozy. It brings in a decent amount of people. It hovers around 600 people. I love it because it's kind of my home town. I graduated from high school here, and lived here for 2 years after I graduated. Then built a home here in 2006 with my husband.

People have been asking me if I was ready for this today. The answer was confusing to me.

Yes but no.

I feel REALLY behind in my training this year. Hurting my calf took a lot of my fitness. It's a fair assessment.  It's not an excuse. I could tell from the the moment I jumped back on the road in middle june that I lost a lot of running fitness. Oh well. But today, I was actually feeling good. I threw down some 6:30's and a couple of 6:50's  before something happened. In the last mile I started getting VERY dizzy and felt a lot of confusion in my mind.  Then I got VERY nauseated. Not the normal semi nausea I have had in the past during the shorter distance races. But this was abrupt and felt really severe. The last mile I stopped 2 times because I was sure I was going to vomit, and sure I was going to lose consciousness. The last mile of this race today was the worst I have EVER felt in a road race. It even tops St. George. Yeah, it was that bad.

I don't know how I made it to the finish. I can't remember even finishing. I know I fought passing out as I swayed and stumbled through the lines at the finish shoot. It just so happened that my personal Doctor was there, and immediately grabbed my arm and took me to the tent to lay down. I honestly almost passed out. It took a good 20 minutes to get back to a semi normal state of mind.  My husband had to help me walk. I was a MESS. My blood pressure was very low. The nurses monitored that for awhile.

After talking to the Dr. he asked if I have changed my diet recently. A light bulb went on. DING! Yes, I started eating ultra clean about 9 days ago. Eating clean is hard. There is hardly any sodium in my diet. I also started drinking a gallon of water a day -which waters down your electrolytes.

So todays problem: electrolyte imbalance. Ayyy! Someday I'll get this right......

(Side note: I really feel like I would have been sub 42 today had this not happened. I really do. I was on my way there. I paced next to Shari Hales nearly the whole time until the last mile. She did a 41:38)

Wanted to post this because it described me to the T this morning:
